The City of London Corporation as a whole has not offered extensive, data-driven and in-person community outreach before to SMEs. This is vital to building long-term relationships within the SME landscape and will enable us to personalise the support experience for members of our SME community. It will also allow us to provide the assistance they need and/or to signpost accordingly.
The project was successfully launched as a pilot in Cripplegate recently and we plan to expand the project to encompass each ward within the City. The scope and scale of this project will be to focus on SMEs, even one-person bands, that have a trading address in the Square Mile, as they are the most visible and prominent within the City.
We acknowledge that there are numerous hidden SMEs in the City and the plan is to engage with these SMEs as well. As Policy Lead for SMEs, I am proud to have implemented this project because it could have a very positive impact on our Cripplegate micro businesses, both, with and without a physical premise as well as the community.
