Making Vintry a Leading Voice for Safety

Everyone who works, visits or lives in Vintry should feel secure no matter the hour, route or role. Safety is not just about presence, it’s about confidence. That’s why I’ve long supported the City of London Crime Prevention Association’s (COLCPA) work, especially their ground-breaking ‘Our Safer City’ initiative focused on preventing violence against women and girls (VAWG) and domestic abuse (DA).

As Policy Lead for SMEs, I was proud to work with COLCPA & see firsthand how they have delivered real change. From Safe Havens and the Ask for Angela initiative, to high-visibility patrols, venue training and a data-led approach to identifying risk hotspots, this programme is setting a new benchmark for how we design and manage urban safety.

Now, as a business owner in the Ward and a continuing supporter of this initiative, I believe Vintry can lead the way in implementing these tools at street level. Could we better promote the Safe Havens App locally? Could more businesses receive bystander and staff training? Could we bring elements of Operation Reframe into our own junctions and hotspots?

None of this requires huge cost, just the will to coordinate and care. If elected Alderman, I’ll work with stakeholders across Vintry to champion smart, replicable safety initiatives.
